Manages the daily operations of a nature center, natural area, historical center or related facility.
Recruits, trains, and guides volunteers.
Develops and oversees the completion of work projects.
Oversees the work of outside contractors at the site.
Patrols nature centers, natural areas and historical centers by vehicle or on foot to maintain public safety and to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and ordinances.
Investigates violations, prepress reports, secures evidence and testifies in court as necessary.
Assists in the development, implementation and supervision of programs, activities, and special events related to nature appreciation, natural and cultural history, environmental education, agricultural and historical programs.
Develops a schedule of programs and events for a center.
Coordinates and supervises special events.
Publicizes programming and event activities.
Performs trail maintenance and wildlife habitat management.
Supervises the receipt and accounting of fees.
Supervises the rental of equipment.
Assists with the purchasing, inventory, and storing of supplies and equipment.
Gathers and assembles fiscal data and prepares various reports.
Monitors the expenditure of funds.
Prepares budget estimates.
Resolves operational issues which arise at the site.
Receives and responds to questions and complaints from the public.

Essential Job Duties
Directs the operations of a nature center.
Plans, organizes, develops, and directs programs, activities, and special events related to nature appreciation, natural and cultural history, environmental education, agriculture, and related fields.
Develops, publicizes, and administers seasonal calendars of events.
Develops program materials and exhibits.
Collaborates with other departmental staff and outside agencies to develop and implement specialized programs and events.
Supervises nature center and park staff including recreation leaders, park attendants, office assistants, and custodial staff.
Develops work schedules and projects.
Develops and implements training for staff in natural and historical programming.
Recruits, trains, and guides volunteers providing services in various aspects of nature center and park operations.
Coordinates and oversees the work of contractors and service providers at the facility.
Oversees and coordinates the construction, maintenance, and repair of center facilities including buildings, grounds, and trails.
Coordinates the efforts of volunteer organizations maintaining park trails, planting trees and shrubs, and assisting in other aspects of park maintenance.
